It was nothing less than a shock for Mumbai resident Vaibhav Vasant Kamble who received a bar of soap and a packet of washing powder instead of a phone ordered on online shopping platform Flipkart.

According to a Hindustan Times report, Kamble had placed an order for two phones from his office on May 3. He was supposed to get the phones delivered on May 6 and 8, respectively.

Quoting a police officer, the report says that a delivery boy from Ekart, a logistics company, came to his office with both the mobile phones on May 6. But Kamble received only one phone saying that  if he liked the phone, he would take the other one later.

Kamble paid Rs 14,900 for the phone and took the package. After opening it, he found a soap and a packet of washing powder instead of a phone, the officer added.

After the incident, Kamble called Flipkart and also wrote emails to their company representatives.  But after receiving no prompt response, he filed a complaint against Flipkart and Ekart, the logistics company.

Currently, police is trying to contact the officials from Flipkart.

In a similar incident, a man had received a soap bar instead of a Samsung phone ordered on Snapdeal in the year 2014.

Later, the e-commerce company had refunded the full amount and apologised for the goof up.
