Outlook talked with several World Cup stars to discuss the key moments of the final and the tournament. Excerpts
These great players can finish you - you've got to take your chances with
them. I thought if he was hitting me, he was giving me a chance to get him.
Kapil was wondering whether to give me that over or not, because I'd been hit
around in the earlier overs
But I asked Kapil to give me another over - I told him that main is di wicket lai levanga [I will take his wicket] I did feel that he was overconfident, perhaps because the target was very small. That catch was only Kapil Dev's, though Yashpal was also running toward the ball. Only Kapil could have taken that, going on side-on.
Unbelievable catch, that's how history is made. There are no two ways about the fact that when we went to England, we had no chances. We had very poor results in the last two World Cups.
As we went on, and went on winning, we found our way, a ray of light led us on to the semifinals. And there was pressure then, that we must now reach the final.
