President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the nation on the eve of 72nd Independence Day.

It was President Kovind’s second Independence Day speech.

Below are the highlights:

7.18 pm

"India belongs to the people of India, not just to the Government. Together we can help every citizen in our country. Together we can conserve our forests and natural heritage, we can safeguard our monuments for future generations," President Ram Nath Kovind.


7.15 pm

When we provide better weapons for soldiers, develop supply-chains for defence equipment in our country itself, and offer welfare facilities to the soldiers, we create India of the dreams of our freedom fighters: President Ram Nath Kovind.


7.13 pm

The citizens who wait in a queue for their turn and respect the rights of those standing in front of them, create the India of the dreams of freedom fighters. This is a very small effort. Let us make it a part of our lives: President Ram Nath Kovind. 


7.12 pm

Women have a special significance in our society. They should have the freedom to choose their path, whether they want to use their skills in the development of house, in the workforce, or in educational institutions: President Ram Nath Kovind.


7.11 pm

Definition of freedom has to be broadened and updated. When we help our farmers and soldiers, we strengthen our freedom: President Kovind.


7.10 pm

"We all need to work towards equality, development and poverty elimination," says President Kovind.


7.05 pm 

"15 August is sacred for every Indian. Our tricolour is a representation of our nation. Independence of India was a result of the sacrifice of freedom fighters and ancestors: President Ram Nath Kovind in his address to the nation on the eve of Independence Day," says President Kovind.
