LeT Rejects Ceasefire Plea During Summit

The Lashker-e-Toiba has rejected a plea by MaulanaFazal-ur Rehman, leader of Pakistan's Jamait-Ulema Islam, for ceasefire duringthe upcoming Indo-Pak summit, saying the solution to the Kashmir issue"lies in jihad only".

Lashker chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed said the activistsof the group "can in no way stop their activities until the Indian forceskeep their occupation of Kashmir. We should learn a lesson from India'sceasefire game that it played in the sacred month of Ramzan," he said,adding "such a risk will be hazardous for the jihad movement. The solutionto Kashmir issue lies in Jihad only," Saeed said.

Rehman, leader of the hardcore religious party, hadlast week appealed to militant groups to announce an indefinite ceasefire toenable India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue.

"Guns should fall silent for sometime in Kashmirin order to facilitate India and Pakistan to address the legitimate concerns ofall parties to the dispute at the Agra summit," Rehman said in a statement.

The Lashker chief also asked Pakistan to take Kashmirisinto confidence before the summit, failing which it "would create such anatmosphere of doubts between Pakistan and Kashmiris, which would in no way becorrect."

 Saeed added that nothing "fruitful"should be expected from the talks.
