Separatist leader and Chairman of all parties Hurriyat conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today appealed to Kashmiri pandits to 'come back to their roots' and 'live among their Muslim brethren with dignity and as equals'.
Kashmiri Pandits across the nation are observing 'Exodus Day' today.
About 4 lakh Kashmiri Pandits were forced to flee Kashmir in 1989 in the wake of violence and terrorism and seek shelter in camps for refugees set up in Jammu and Delhi.
The lead in this act of ethnic-cleansing was initially taken by the Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).
January 19 is observed annually by the Kashmiri Pandits as the Exodus Day.

Mirwaiz took to twitter to urge Kashmiri pandits to come back to their 'homeland.'
"On the 29 anniversary of Kashmiri Pandit migration appealed to our Kashmiri Pandith community to come back to their roots,to Kashmir their homeland and live among their Muslim brethren with dignity and as equals.Kashmir belongs to them as much as it does to us," he said.
