JNU student Najeeb Ahmed went missing from the college premises almost 6 six months ago under mysterious circumstances.  Amid various speculations and police investigations following his disappearance,  the latest to be doing the rounds is that Ahmed searched for information on the Islamic State before being reported missing.

A report by The Times Of India said that the browsing history of Najeeb's laptop received by the Delhi Police  has revealed that in the months preceding his disappearance, Najeeb had been looking for information on the Islamic State (IS) -'ideology , executions and network.'

His google search history included searching for 'ways to join IS' among other information relating to the terrorist organisation.  His Youtube history also reveals that the videos he searched for were related to the IS, added the report.

According to the report that cited the Delhi Police, Ahmed was watching the video of an IS leader on Youtube on the night of October 14, before he had a tussle with ABVP members when they knocked on his door. Ahmed was reported missing the next morning.

Fearing that Ahmed might have radicalised himself and got lured away via Nepal, posters with Najeeb's photograph have been put up in several areas of Nepal that are close to UP , the report further adds.

Najeeb Ahmed was studying B.Tech in the Jawaharlal Nehru University.

At the time of his disappearance,  an AISA activist said that Najeeb, who joined the hostel a fortnight before he went missing, had an altercation with some ABVP activists when they were holding a door-to-door campaign at the hostel for the mess committee election.

Najeeb allegedly slapped a student following which residents of the hostel asked him to vacate his room.

However, the activist alleged, "It all started with a scuffle between two groups of students but then an entire group of ABVP activists came to avenge it and beat him up," the activist said.
