Trade association and industry body Nasscom has forecast that there will be a 20-25% reduction  in IT(Information Technology) jobs.

Nasscom, in its annual review, has said that the industry grew at 8.6% while  jobs grew only by 5% in the fiscal year 2016-17. Automation, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning will continue to affect the IT industry, reports Economic Times.

Speaking to the newspaper, Malcolm Frank, chief strategy officer of Cognizant says that in the next 10 years, there will not be a single white-collar job without artificial intelligence.

Frank claims that around 12% of the jobs will go away due to the bot and automation. He adds that the remaining three-quarters of the jobs will have to adopt bots as a tool.

Some executives believe that there are different types of new skills such as data scientists which are required and reskilling of people at all levels will be the key focus area in the upcoming years, the ET report adds.

Ratna Gupta, director technology vertical at ABC Consultants, says system administrators, testers and those who are part of operations and BPOs will be the worst affected till 2020.

Recently, Capgemini India's chief executive Srinivas Kandula said a majority of its workforce cannot imbibe the required emerging skill-sets, and warned of high job losses at the middle and senior levels.
