Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday found himself in an uncomfortable situation after slogans demanding the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya were raised in the middle of his speech in Lucknow.

Rajnath, who is a Lok Sabha lawmaker from Lucknow, was speaking at the Yuva Kumbh event in the Uttar Pradesh capital when members attending the function interrupted his speech for around four minutes.

"Jo Mandir Banwayega, vote ussi ko jayega (We will vote for the party, which constructs the Ram Temple)," the audience chanted disrupting Mr Singh's speech.

To pacify the crowd, Rajnath said, "No power on earth can stop the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. It's our commitment and there shouldn't be any doubt about it."

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was heckled during the inauguration of the Yuva Kumbh. Speaking at the inauguration event Adityanath said, "We [BJP] are the only party which will get the Ram temple constructed in Ayodhya and no one else has the intention to do it".

Without naming anyone, Adityanath said, "We have the opportunity of understanding these conspiracies, which represent the negativities in the country and making an effort to push the country towards disintegration. Preparations will be made to hatch this conspiracy at every level, but it is important that we have to remain alert".
