Days after kicking up a row with her Godse “deshbhakt” remarks, BJP's Bhopal Lok Sabha candidate Pragya Singh Thakur on Monday announced she would be observing a vow of silence for 63 hours to atone for her controversial remarks.
Thakur, an accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, said she felt it was now time for some "soul searching".
“After the election procedures, it is now time for contemplation. If my words have caused any hurt to patriots, then I apologise, and as per the decorum of public life and as part of my repentance, I will follow a vow of strict silence for 21 prahar to atone for them,” Pragya Thakur tweeted in Hindi.

The BJP leader last week courted controversy by calling Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse a "patriot". Before that she claimed that then Maharashtra ATS chief
Hemant Karkare was killed in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks due to her "curse".
The BJP had said it did not agree with her remarks, and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said he will never forgive her for insulting Mahatma Gandhi.
Following some of Thakur's controversial statements, the Election Commission had imposed a 72-hour ban on her from campaigning in the Lok Sabha polls.
