Ahead of the commencement of the Budget Session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said he wanted a "vast, qualitative discussion on economy in both houses" of the Parliament.

The prime minister said, "We all should make sure that in this session, we lay a strong foundation for this decade. This session will be focussed mainly on economic issues. I want that in both houses there are good debates on these issues."

"Our government's identity has been of empowering Dalits, women, those who face exploitation and we want to continue the efforts," he said.

Copies of Economic Survey 2019-20 have reached the Parliament complex on Friday morning. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present it later today.
