Actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth on Thursday said that he had never thought of becoming the chief minister and only "wanted a change in politics". This comes on a day when the Tamil superstar was expected to float a party of his own.

Even though the party wasn't announced, Rajini spoke at length about his plans and the changes he wanted before reaching out to the people of Tamil Nadu for votes

Addressing the press, he said there were two stalwarts -- Jayalalithaa and Kalaignar -- but there was a vacuum now.

"Now, we need to create a new movement to bring change," he said.\

"The chief minister should be like the CEO and the political change will happen only if the government is allowed to function independently," he said.

Rajinikanth urged his supporters to "first take this message to the people" and hoped it would "swell into a movement, even an uprising."

"Once this idea takes root we can approach the people for votes," he said, "Only by presenting a new formula can we combat the two big parties of Tamil Nadu."

If we take this new brand of politics to the people there will be another revolution in Tamil Nadu, he said
