West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee refused to hold a review meeting on Cyclone Fani with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to the PMO sources.

The Central government had written to the West Bengal government about a review meeting of state government officials with the prime minister.

However, Mamata government replied that the government officials are busy with election duty and therefore, the review meeting should not be held.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik to review the situations on Monday.

Cyclone Fani on Friday lashed Odisha, triggering heavy rainfall accompanied by wind touching the speed of 200 kmph, and left three persons dead besides over 160 injured, a trail of destruction that included damaged houses, uprooted trees and electricity poles.

The cyclone, worst April storm in 43 years, caused "huge damage" in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri and Khordha districts in the state, according to the Odisha government.
