West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee said she "prayed for my motherland" ahead of vote counting, by playing a Rabindranath Tagore song on the synthesizer and also tweeting a poem.

“As counting day approaches, I pray for my motherland. This song is dedicated to Maa Mati Manush,” Mamata tweeted, and linked a Facebook post showing her playing a Tagore song on the synthesizer.

She also tweeted a poem “Joruri!!! (Emergency!!!)

The poem, titled Joruri!!!, does not take names but says “democracy is in a cave”, days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi meditated in a cave in Kedarnath. The song Mamata played on the keyboard was "Praano bhoriye trisha horiye". The lyrics are a prayer to the divinity, referred to as “Probhu (Lord)”, for filling one’s life, quenching one’s thirst with more life, light, melody, pain and consciousness, and to free one from bounds such as home, according to the Telegraph.
