J&K: 12 Students Injured In Blast In Pulwama School

While those being treated at Pulwama hospital are stable, others have been shifted to a hospital in Pampore town of the district, the doctor said.

A blast at a private school in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district left at leat 12 students injured Wednesday, police said.

The explosion took place inside the school in Narbal village of Kakapora area in the south Kashmir district this afternoon, a police official said.

He said at least 12 students of class 10 were injured in the blast that rocked the school when they were taking winter tuition.

The injured students have been rushed to a hospital for treatment and their condition is stated to be stable, the official said.

He said police officers have reached the spot and are ascertaining the nature and circumstances of the blast.

A case has been registered and investigation taken up.

"I was teaching and then suddenly an explosion occurred. I can't say how many students are injured,"  Jawed Ahmed, a teacher at the private school where the explosion occurred.

Meanwhile, Governor  Satya Pal Malik announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs. 50,000 for all those injured and expressed deep regret over the unfortunate incident.

He also directed the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to ensure the best possible medical treatment to injured children.
