In the tug of war between Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the government formation in Maharashtra, a Haryana politician has become a part of the conversation.

The Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) President, Dushyant Chautala, was on Tuesday dragged into the war of words when Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut took a swipe at the former, saying the government formation in the state was taking time since there was no Dushyant here.

Reacting Raut's stinging comment, Chautala said that it means Raut knew who he is. "It means he knows who Dushyant Chautala is. My father was in jail for six years; he never asked about his well being. Ajay Chautala Ji has not come out without completing his term. Such statements don't add to Sanjay Ji's stature," Dushyant told ANI.

Earlier in the day, Raut said: "We do not have any Dushyant here whose father is inside the jail. Here it's us who do politics of dharma and satya (righteousness and truth). Maharashtra has very complicated politics."

The jibe was in reference to BJP's deal with Dushyant, who partnered with Manohar Lal Khattar to form the government, despite the bitterness they shared before the polls.

Referring to Dushyant's father, Shiv Sena alleged that Ajay Chautala was granted furlough only after the newly-elected Haryana Deputy CM signed a deal with the BJP to form the government.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that there was no 50:50 deal with Shiv Sena when the alliance was finalised with the Maratha party.
