Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed hope for his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi to use the 'big mandate' in improving the relations between the two countries and work towards resolving issues.
Imran Khan and PM Modi are attending the two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek.
"... we hope now that the current prime minister has one big mandate, we hope that he will use this mandate to develop a better relationship and bring peace in the subcontinent," Khan said.
Imran Khan claimed that Pakistan's relationship with India is at its lowest point during his interview to a Russian news agency, Sputnik, adding that the SCO summit provided his country with a "fresh outlet" to develop and improve relationships with other nations, including India.

Khan emphasized the need to resolve issues, including Kashmir, through dialogue.
“And so our emphasis should be peace, resolving our differences through dialogue. And our main difference with India is Kashmir. And if the heads of two countries resolve, if two governments decide, this issue can be resolved,” Khan said.
“But, unfortunately, we have not had much success from India so far. But we hope now that the current prime minister has one big mandate, we hope that he will use this mandate to develop better relationship and bring peace in the subcontinent.”
