Supreme Court, on Saturday, delivered a historic Ayodhya verdict in which the apex court said that the disputed 2.77 acre land will be given to deity Ram Lalla. However, the possession of the land will be given to a trust, set up by the government in three months to oversee construction of the temple. The Muslim parties will be given a 5-acre land elsewhere for them to build a mosque.
The verdict came nearly 27 years after a Hindu rightwing mob demolished the 16th century Babri Masjid—built by first Mughal emperor Babar—at a spot where the Hindu deity Ram is believed to have been born.

Leaders, politicians and civil society members urged the people to accept the Supreme Court verdict peacefully and to refrain from indulging in any untoward activities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who today, participated in another landmark event, the opening of the Kartarpur corridor said, welcomes the verdict, saying that the judgement will strengthen people's faith in the judicial process.
Home Minister Amit Shah, also congratulated the judiciary for delivering the verdict. He said that the verdict will further strengthen India's unity, oneness, and culture.
He appealed to the people of all faiths to accept the verdict with peace and dignity.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also urged the people to accept the verdict with equanimity and magnanimity.

Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi also accepted the verdict, saying he respects it. He also appealed to all to maintain harmony. He said that in the current times, all Indians should have brotherhood, trust and love amongst themselves.
Congress General secretary Priyanka Gandhi, also welcomed the verdict and reiterated the request of upholding peace and harmony in the country.
Congress spokesperson said Supreme Court has upheld faith and belief and it has closed the door for further politicising the issue.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday welcomed the Supreme Court judgment on the Ayodhya land dispute and appealed to people to maintain unity and amity.
"We welcome the Supreme Court verdict. Everyone should support for unity and amity in the country. In UP, the government is committed to maintain peace and security," Adityanath tweeted in Hindi.
Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, whose party is stuck in a political impasse over power-sharing in the Maharashtra Government formation, said, that "today's (the day of the verdict) will be written in golden letters in the history of India. Everyone has accepted the verdict."
"I will be going to Ayodhya on 24 November. I will also visit LK Advani Ji to thank him and congratulate him. He had taken out 'Rath-Yatra' for this. I will surely meet him and seek his blessings," he added.

Speaking to media persons, AIMIM President and Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi, said, that though he has full faith in the Indian Constitution, the verdict is unsatisfactory for him.
"I am not satisfied with the verdict. The Supreme Court is indeed supreme but not infallible. We have full faith in the Constitution. We were fighting for our legal rights. We do not need five-acre land as a donation. Don't patronise us," he said.
The CPI(M) in a press statement said, though they welcomed the verdict, they also asserted that there are certain premises of the judgment which were questionable. They pointed out the since the verdict itself pointed out that the demolition of the Babri Masjid in December 1992 was a violation of the law, the cases pertaining to the demolition should be expedited and the guilty punished.

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Saturday welcomed the Supreme Court's judgement in the Ayodhya land dispute case and said that the top court has given "historic justice".
"The Supreme Court, under no pressure and no influence, has given historic justice... A grand Ram temple will be built. The decision to allot alternate land to Muslim side is welcome, I believe Hindu brothers should help in the construction of the Masjid as well," Ramdev told media here.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the Supreme Court judgment in the Ayodhya title dispute should be respected by all and harmony and peace should be maintained.

“The day of judgment came after a long wait. Everyone should respect the decision by maintaining peace and harmony,” Gehlot said.
