Coronavirus Highlights: India Cases Reach 4,281; Maharashtra Reports 7 New Deaths

India continues to record new Coronavirus cases, taking the total tally past 4,000, and the death toll past the 100-mark, according to the Health Ministry.

The rate of doubling of COVID-19 cases in India is 4.1 days presently but if the cases linked to the Tablighi Jamaat congregation would not have happened, it would have been 7.4 days, the Health Ministry said.

Globally, more than 1.2 million coronavirus cases, including 65,272 deaths, have been reported in 190 countries and territories around the world since the virus first emerged in China in December, according to an AFP tally.

5:20PM: Locals attacked two policemen when they were trying to enforce lockdown in Karampur Chaudhary village under Izzatnagar Police Station in Bareilly today. Later, a mob of around 200 people created ruckus at the police station, said Bareilly City SP Ravindra Kumar.

"IPS Abhishek Verma and few other police personnel have sustained injuries in the attack. We have taken some people into custody & booked them under Section 144 of CrPC, relevant sections of IPC," Kumar added.

5:15PM: Seven Nepalese citizens, including a child, who reached the Indo-Nepal border at Rupaidiha in Bahraich from different parts of Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat have been quarantined, police said on Monday.

They have been admitted to a quarantine facility in Nanpara, they said.
