Three migrant labourers were killed and over 12 were injured following another road mishap on Monday night in Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba district, police said.

A DCM carrying 17 people overturned due to tyre burst on Jhansi-Mirzapur highway, ML Patidar, SP Mahoba, said. These labourers were returning from Delhi, according to news agency ANI.

The accident comes just a day after twenty migrant workers were injured when a mini-truck rammed a truck in Ayodhya district on Monday morning.

The mini-truck was carrying workers from Mumbai and was headed to Siddhartha Nagar in Uttar Pradesh.

In another incident in Hamirpur district on Monday, ten migrant workers were injured when the bus overturned.

Over the past several weeks, there have been several accidents involving migrant labourers after they started leaving cities in large numbers for their native states. Lack of transport, food and working opportunities have forced these labourers to leave for their homes on foot.

Last week, 25 migrant labourers were killed and scores of others were injured after a collision between two trucks in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya.

On the same day, 6 migrant labours were killed when the truck they were travelling in overturned in Madhya Pradesh. The nationwide lockdown, which has been once again extended to May 31 now, to contain the spread of novel coronavirus has triggered a massive reverse migration from cities to villages.
