As the cricket teams of India and New Zealand are set to play their final one day match in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on Sunday, players get a Yogi Adityanath-inspired "Saffron" welcome at their hotel.

Straying away from conventional welcome where bouquets of flowers were presented to the cricketers, this Kanpur hotel, in its attempt to give a feel of "real Indian tradition" to the players, presented them a saffron stole. The hotel management also lighted the entire hotel with over 10,000 diyas, reported News18.

Even the cake cutting ceremony by the team captains at the hotel was replaced with religious rituals.

This comes just after elaborate Diwali celebrations in the state by chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

According to the report, school children are also roped in for staging Ramleela before the players.

On Diwali this year, October 19, Yogi had visited Ayodhya where he participated in glittering ceremony 'Deepotsav' organised on the bank of river Sarayu.

About 1.7 lakh diyas and earthern lamps were lit for the evening aarti on the river banks. According to the officials the 1.71 lakh earthen lamps being lit at an event could enter the Guinness Book of World Records.
