Daulatram Jogawat, the policeman who was trolled on social media by Shobhaa De for being overweight, responded to her tweet.

According to Hindustan Times, the policeman posted in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch town, had a gall bladder operation in 1993 and he developed insulin imbalance which resulted in obesity.

"If madam wants, she can pay for my treatment. Who doesn't want to be thin?", he said.

Speaking to News 18, Jogawat who was apparently hurt by De's remarks, said "Nobody loves to be overweight. ...It is not good to mock someone without having any detail about the person."

Shobhaa De had posted a picture of the policeman with the caption, 'Heavy police bandobast in Mumbai today!' The pun didn't go well with Twitter users who slammed the columnist for being insensitive.

Twitter users pointed out that not only was the picture old and the caption copied, but also that a pun like this makes up for body shaming.

The twitter handle of Mumbai Police responded to the tweet, reminding the 'responsible citizen' that they expected better from her.
