That popular models Tupur and Tapur Chatterjee are his grand-daughters?

That he started off as an ace editor, he edited the much celebrated Malayalam film, Chemmeen?

That Raj Kapoor was one of his closest friends?

That he was the director of Film Finanace Corporation and Chairman of NFDC and headed the Censor Board as well. It was the time in Censor Board that he considered that most unproductive phase of his entire life. "You can only say 'no this is not allowed'. You can't say yes to anything. I feel you can achieve very little by such a process of negation and despite all the controls, the stupidity and vulagrity still continue," he said.

That Satyakam was his favourite film? "On the eve of Independence an engineer thinks he will build the country, thinks that there will be no corruption but finds there is more loss of values; only the colour has changed from white to brown. It is a real life story. The novel was written by a friend of mine, who was a chief engineer in the West Bengal government. It portrays his life but it's a part of our life also. I also used to feel the same way." he said.
