Delhi Metro To Hike Fares From Wednesday, Check Out The New Fare Slabs

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to hike fares from Wednesday by making the minimum charge to be Rs. 10 and the maximum fare, Rs. 50.

The board of the DMRC has approved the hike in its meeting on Monday, reported The Times of India.

Presently the minimum fare is Rs 8 and the maximum fare, Rs 30.

"The board has accepted the revision of fare recommended by a panel. There will be a public notice about the fare tomorrow and the new rates will be effective from Wednesday," the newspaper quoted an official without naming the person.

The DMRC’s last fare hike was in 2009 when the minimum charge was raised from Rs 6 to Rs 8 and the maximum fare from Rs 22 to Rs 30.

The new fare slabs are Rs 10, Rs 15, Rs 20, Rs 30, Rs 40 and Rs 50.

The (distance-wise) slabs for new fare are as follows: 0-2 km Rs 10, 2-5 km Rs 15, 5-12 km Rs 20, 12-21 km Rs 30, 21-32 km Rs 40 and more than 32 km Rs 50.
