Cars and buses will not be allowed into Cannaught Place, Delhi for three months starting from February,2017. The ban is part of a pilot smart city project, launching next month, reports NDTV.
The report states that Inner and Middle circles of Cannaught Place will be barred to traffic and 'Park and Ride' services on cycles and battery operated vehicles will be available from the surrounding parking areas at Shivaji Stadium, Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Palika parking.
The ministry of Urban development said that the ban and 'pedestrianisation' of the area will test the effects on traffic, management of reclaimed parking lots, and record the experience of the pedestrians and shop owners, says the report.

Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu has said that such a move will offer a "congestion free, accident free and crime free" experience to visitors.
