On Monday, seeking justice for his son's death, Ankit Saxena's father, Yashpal Saxena said, "I will be 'thankful' if the Delhi government help us in fighting the case."

Talking to the ANI, Ankit's father Yashpal demanded death sentence for those who killed his son.

"We want justice. Murderers of my son should get death sentence. I am an ordinary man and I have no resources to fight the case. If Delhi government helps us in getting best advocates and making a strong case, I will be thankful," said Ankit's father.

"Even If I Don’t Get Justice, Won’t Have Hatred Against Any Community, Says Father Of Ankit Saxena In An Appeal To Not Communalise Son’s Murder," Yashpal quoted as saying.

On Monday, CCTV footage showing Ankit’s last few minutes before he was attacked for allegedly being in a relationship with a girl belonging to another religion circulated on the social media. In the video, Ankit Saxena could be seen making frantic calls to his friends to tell them that his life could be in danger.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday tweeted that his government would hire the best lawyers to ensure justice for the 23-year-old photographer. Condemning the youth's murder, Kejriwal said in his tweet that he spoke to the victim's father and extended his condolences to the family. He added that the government would make all efforts to ensure that strict punishment is meted out to the accused.
