In a shocking revelation, police investigations have shown that bank account information  of over 1 crore Indians were being sold by crooks. Every individual's detail was being sold at a meagre price of Rs 10 or 20 paisa.

According to a report by The Economic Times, the cops managed to nab a key player while investigating a case of an  80-year-old woman from Greater kailash in  south Delhi.  She had lost Rs 1.46 lakh from her credit card.

Subsequently, the cops found the stolen data of nearly one crore people, claimed DCP(south east ) Romil Baaniya. The data contained name of the customer, card details, date of birth and mobile numbers.  Data of senior citizens were most sought after, the report adds.

Using this data, the culprits would pose as representatives and convince people to share details such as the CVV number and OTP, and use them to withdraw money.
