A Congress leader on Monday threw petrol inside the premises of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) office and threatened to set it on fire.

According to reports, Narayanaswamy, a close aide of Congress MLA Byrati Basavaraj, took the grave step after a fake document which he submitted was rejected by an official.

Narayanaswamy is the former president of KR Puram Block Congress and a close aide of KR Puram MLA Byrathi Basavaraj.

The video has surfaced two days after Congress MLA from Shantinagar NA Haris' elder son and his associates allegedly brutally assaulted and gravely injured a 24-year-old man.

The video posted by local channels show Narayanaswamy splashing petrol from a bottle in the BBMP office at Bengaluru's Horamavu.

Later, speaking to media, Narayanaswamy has said that he was forced to visit BBMP office after receiving complaints from the public.

“I didn’t go there for personal work. I went there to get justice for public. I am not denying what has happened but one should look at the causes that prompted it,” he said, as quoted by TOI.

Meanwhile, BBMP Employees Association has demanded stern action against the politician.
