Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf wasexpected to go for major reshuffle of the cabinet soon after his return from theforthcoming Indo-Pak summit.

Since Musharraf has postponed is decision to appoint aPrime Minister, the Pakistan media speculated that he would go for a majorreshuffle soon after his return from India on July 16.

Foreign Minister, Abdul Sattar, Finance MinisterShoukat Aziz, Interior Minister, Lt Gen. (rtd) Moinuddin Haider and CommerceMinsiter Razak Dawood were expected to retain their posts and rest, who werehand picked by Musharraf when he took over power in October 1999, could eitherbe removed or given additional responsibilities.

Shoukat Aziz, who was former Vice President of CitiBank, and enjoyed close rapport with the IMF and World Bank, continued to be thefront runner for Prime Minister's Post, media reports said.

Pakistan daily 'The News', quoting sources, said somenew faces were expected to be inducted in the cabinet.

It said the military government has already obtainedthe required approval for reshuffle in the federal cabinet from the corpscommanders meeting held recently. The government is planning to induct moreministers in the federal cabinet from Sindh province in particular to avoidcriticism that the province got a raw deal, the paper added.
