  • Going by the aforementioned statement, it is likely to be a performance-oriented motorcycle.

Zero Motorcycles, a California-based electric motorcycle manufacturer has teased an all-new electric bike, called the SR/F. Zero says, “More than a new model, SR/F is an entirely new platform. The SR/F provides an effortlessly powerful experience in the naked street bike category”. Their statement is a pretty good indication that the upcoming model is going to be a performance bike. We’ll get a better idea once the brand unveils it on 25 February.

The teaser is just a brief video of the headlight cluster being switched on. It reveals stacked headlight units bracketed by a pair of vertically laid out LED DRLs. Interestingly, the indicators appear to employ bulbs - something you don’t see in an electric motorcycle, let alone a performance-oriented one. Looking at the handlebar setup, we believe the ergonomics shouldn’t be too aggressive. A small flyscreen and tank extensions are also visible in the video. The front appears to employ USD forks, and you can also see lightweight aluminium footpegs and brake pedal.

The frame and the powertrain setup are going to be all-new, but details are scant at the moment. It is likely to be more powerful than the Zero SR, which churns out a massive 157Nm of torque and 70.7PS at 3500rpm from its electric motor. Once launched, the Harley-Davidson Livewire would be its primary rival in its segment.

Will we see one on our shores? It seems to be highly unlikely, as the brand doesn’t have plans to enter India, at least as of now.
