  • Only 3 of the 6 colours are offered on the base variant, with no option for different seat covers.

  • If you pick every highest priced exterior and interior accessory offered on the Wagon R, it would go up to nearly Rs 42,000 in additional costs.

  • There are a total of 17 accessory categories to personalise the new Wagon R with.

The new Maruti Wagon R has been launched with prices ranging between Rs 4.19 lakh and Rs 5.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). We’ve dived into the details to share with you what each variant is equipped with, which variant we would recommend and even how it fares against its rivals, the Hyundai Santro and the Datsun GO.

Now with the online configurator, we can see how the variants differ visually from the outside as well as on the inside.

Maruti Wagon R L

This is the entry-spec model for the Wagon R and comes sparsely equipped, something which is quite visible from the outside too. It’s offered in just three colours: white, gray and silver.

The interiors are quite bare and the seat upholstery is restricted to only one option while the various panels can be changed for more colourful options.

Even the L variant can be equipped with a plethora of exterior and interior accessories such as side skirts, front grille garnish, extra cladding and interior styling kit to improve the aesthetics. These can amount to a maximum of nearly Rs 36,000.

Maruti Wagon R V

The mid-spec variant of the Wagon R is offered with multiple powertrain options and a choice of three additional colours: blue, brown and orange.

There isn’t much to distinguish it from the base model from the outside except for the wheel covers, body-coloured ORVMs and door handles. However, the 1.2-litre version of the V variant also gets the B-pillar blacked out.

The interiors are significantly different with the dual-tone upholstery, which also comes with different seat cover options that can cost up to Rs 6000.

The V variants also get an audio player in the dock, so that the central console doesn’t look as empty as the base model, along with the silver garnish on the inside door handles. It also gets steering-mounted audio controls and the electrical adjustment toggle for the ORVMs is another way to identify it as a higher variant.

Maruti Wagon R Z

This is the top-spec variant of the new Wagon R and gets the full features list. From the outside, it is distinguishable by fog lamps in the housings in the front bumpers and indicators on the ORVMs.

However, once in the cabin, this Z variant is easily distinguishable as it gets Maruti’s 7-inch SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. It is also the only variant to get a tachometer in the driver’s instrument cluster and USB charging ports next to the 12V charging socket.

The list of accessories stays the same as that offered on the middle variant, which altogether can add nearly Rs 42,000 to the cost of your Z variant Wagon R.
