The entry-level cross-hatch segment has become hotly contested in a matter of just two days with the back to back launches of the Maruti S-Presso and Renault Kwid facelift. Both cars appeal to the same demographic and offer similar features. The S-Presso is priced from Rs 3.69 lakh to Rs 4.91 lakh while the facelifted Kwid’s price tag ranges between Rs 2.83 lakh to Rs 4.85 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
But which of these two mini-SUVs offers the most value for money? Let’s take a look:

Note: We’ve only listed the prices of ‘Optional’ variants of the Maruti models above as they are equipped with more safety features and would be the ones we’d recommend.

What Kwid RXT 1.0 offers over S-Presso Vxi(O): Dual-barrel headlamps, Rear power windows(optional), leather wrapped steering wheel, rear power socket, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, reverse parking camera, chrome garnish, LED DRLs, body coloured bumpers, rear armrest and rear parcel tray.
Verdict: The Kwid RXT, with its optional package that closes the price gap to the more expensive S-Presso VXI (O) is the more value-for-money package here.

Verdict: While the S-Presso is better equipped in its top-spec variant, the Kwid has more to offer in terms of comforts, features and visual presence. The Renault is our pick yet again at this price.
