Hyundai has just launched the Venue and while it is the company’s first attempt at cracking the sub-4 metre SUV segment, it is not its first SUV. The Venue slots in below the Creta, but some of its variants are priced in the vicinity of the Creta’s. If you’re confused between buying one of these variants of these cars, we’ll clear the confusion by comparing them and finding out which one delivers better value in terms of features on offer at a similar price. To keep things fair, we will compare variants that are priced within Rs 50,000.

Basic Differences

Dimensions

The Creta is bigger in every dimension compared to the Venue.

Engines

Petrol

  • The Venue is offered with two petrol engines while the Creta gets one. Venue’s turbocharged petrol engine makes almost the same amount of power as the Creta’s bigger, naturally aspirated motor and quite a bit more torque too.

Diesel

  • The Creta gets a choice of two diesel engines while the Venue gets one.

  • The Creta’s smaller engine is the same as the Venue’s, although only the Creta can be had with an automatic gearbox with a diesel engine.

Prices (of comparable variants. Detailed prices at the end of the story)
