Appearing In Haryana Govt Exams? Brush Up Your Knowledge About Baba Ramdev, His Guru

Candidates, appearing in competitive examinations for government jobs in Haryana, have come across some unexpected questions such as -- ‘Who is the guru of Baba Ramdev? Where is the dera of Kali Kamali Baba located in Haryana? On which part of the body is the ornament ‘Chalkada’ worn?’

According to The Indian Express, these questions have been in recruitment examination for the posts of police constable, clerk, food sub-inspector, patwari (revenue official), statistical assistant and pump operators.

“Questions are related to the social fabric of the state that should be known by the aspirants. They must be sensitive and aware of diversity in society. If those who know about the social fabric are selected, they will be able to serve people in a better way,” Raman Malik, spokesperson for the ruling BJP, told the newspaper.

No senior officials of the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) responded to requests for comment from the daily.

The BJP-ruled states have been accused of promoting “Hindutva” propaganda.

Recently, schools across Uttar Pradesh were handed booklets by the BJP to help

students register and prepare for an upcoming competitive examination on topics like RSS and BJP ideologues, the Yogi Adityanath government, demonetisation and ‘Ramjanmabhoomi’.

The 70-page booklet — called Samanya Gyan Pratiyogita – 2017 — contains details and questions on leaders such as Veer Savarkar, Deendayal Upadhyaya, K B Hedgewar, Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Nanaji Deshmukh, and on topics like nationalism, Hindutva and major schemes launched by the Centre and state government.
