In a triangle love story that took place in the hinterlands of tribal Jharkhand, a man was presented with the chance to say "I do" twice.

A tribal girl has asked a boy’s father to let him marry her, and another woman he later fell in love with.

A report from Jharkhand in The Hindustan Times brings this story about Rita, Sukhmati, and the man in the middle of it all, 23-year-old Rajesh Devgam.

The report mentions that Devgam had first fallen for Sukhmati, at her handiya shop a few years ago and fell for her. While visiting his sister’s village, Devgam’s flighty heart was at it again, and he courted Rita.

According to the report however, when the question of marriage arose, he chose his first love, which led to Rita feeling spite. Sukhmati however is said to have come up with the solution, telling the Devgam family that since polygamy was accepted in their community, Rajesh could marry them both.

She told the newspaper that she couldn’t contemplate a life without him but taking Rita out of his life would be cruel. She then reportedly met Devgam and Rita’s fathers, Ghanshyam, a former police constable, and Lal Singh Biruli respectively, with the proposal.

Sukhmati’s father was quoted saying that “We found tremendous bonding among the three and couldn’t stop them.”
