As the heatwave grips many Indian states, 3 deaths have been reported across Solapur, Beed and Aurangabad districts respectively in Maharashtra, Director of health services of the state has confirmed.

The MeT department has issued warnings in Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra's Vidharbha area for next two days.

Earlier, an unusually high temperature of 46.5 degrees Celsius was recorded by a temperature mapping centre at Bhira in Raigad district.

Similarly, in Rajasthan, heatwave has started to affect lives as most districts in the state recorded maximum temperatures at above 40 degrees Celsius.

The MeT department has predicted dry weather in the next 24 hours at most places in the desert state.

The maximum and minimum temperatures is predicted to hover between 40 and 24 degrees Celsius respectively, it said.

Barmer was the hottest in the state on Wednesday with mercury touching 43.4 degrees Celsius, followed by 43 degrees Celsius in Churu, 42.2 degrees Celsius in Kota, 42.1 degrees Celsius in Bikaner, 41.9 degrees Celsius in Jaisalmer, 40.5 degrees Celsius in Jaipur, 40.2 degrees Celsius in Jodhpur and 39.8 degrees Celsius in Ajmer.

According to a report by AccuWeather, millions of lives will be put on risk for heat-related illnesses and the highest temperatures across the country will occur across Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and eastern Maharashtra where highs during the middle and end of the week will range from 43-46 C (110-115 F).

The national capital is expected to endure temperature above 38 C (100 F) into early next week. The lowest temperatures overnight will fall only to 21-24 C (70-75 F) during this time. However, the report adds that there will be some relief during the second half of week as a storm system passes north of the city.
