How Bhagavad Gita Helped Sharad Kumar Win Tokyo Paralympics High Jump Medal

A knee injury almost derailed his Tokyo Paralympics campaign but Sharad Kumar, who won a high jump bronze at the 2020 Summer Games on Tuesday (August 31), found belief and new energy by reading the Bhagavad Gita to overcome anxiety and a painful knee. Twenty-nine-year-old Sharad Kumar is a Masters degree holder in International Relations from Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University. Kumar, also a Sports Authority of India coach, had trained for three years in Ukraine from 2017 to prepare for the Paralympics.
