The Jammu-Srinagar national highway is the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country.
Five trekkers whose bodies were airlifted are identified as Shubhayan Das, Vikas Makal, Saurabh Ghosh and Tanumoy Tiwari from West Bengal, and Anita Rawat, the only woman member from Delhi.
On Sunday, the Army, NDRF, police and the Fire Force have embarked on rescue operation along with the locals at Koottickal and Kokkayar panchayats where over a dozen people are reportedly missing.
'Almost the entire state received rainfall in the last 24 hours,' P K Saha, senior meteorologist with the India Meterological Department's (IMD) Bhopal office, told PTI.
Even as the state continues to grapple with the after effects of torrential rains over the last 48 hours, the IMD has predicted more rains in the state in the days ahead.
Airline flights and train service were suspended Saturday as the storm approached. The Central News Agency reported more than 2,000 people were evacuated from flood-prone areas of the east coast county of Hualien.
An SEOC release said 18 roads, comprising two state highways passing through Amreli and Porbandar districts and 16 panchayat roads in rural areas, were shut on Friday due to water-logging or rain-related damage.
The bodies of three children were recovered and a search operation was on for those still missing.

Superintendent of Police Shivraj Meena said an old wall collapsed on the house in which two brothers, Mahendra Kaivat and Mahaveer Kaivat, lived with their families.
'Heavy rains have created a flood situation in some areas of Kota, Baran, Bundi and Jhalawar. Instructions have been given to administration regarding relief and rescue operations,' tweeted CM Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday.
'The car swept away in water. Ramjilal, his elder son and the relative were rescued while bodies of his two minor sons, Man Singh (13) and Raunak (9), were found stuck in bushes on Tuesday,' police said.
A red alert indicates heavy to extremely heavy rains of over 20 cm in 24 hours, while an orange alert means very heavy rains from 6 cm to 20 cm.
A search operation for the missing persons is underway at Lahaul-Spiti with the help of the state police and ITBP teams.
“There were no fatalities, but flood-like situation exists. Those people whose houses have gone completely under water have shifted to safer places on their own,” officials said.
While the pumping mechanism would be restored in a few hours, resumption of filtration process is more time consuming, the official said, adding that boiling water before drinking was the best precaution at the moment.
“As people panicked and start shouting that electric current spread in the locality, I along with another woman relative stood on a wooden ladder in my shanty. After more than two hours, a man came to enquire about us and asked us to come out," said Laxmi, one of the two women.
