The incident took place Wednesday evening amid the nationwide backlash on Kashmiris following the February 14 terror attack in Pulwama.
The apex court directed chief secretaries and DGPs of 11 states, Delhi Police chief to take prompt action in cases of assault on Kashmiris and other minorities.
The local police, who earlier dubbed it as an incident of road rage, registered a case against the two suspected assailants on Friday evening and arrested one of them.
National Conference vice president Abdullah said that he was grateful to the Supreme Court for doing what the government at the Centre should have done.
