Mohammed Siraj Pens Emotional Note For Virat Kohli; Calls Him ‘Superhero’

Mohammed Siraj has penned an emotional note on social media for Virat Kohli who stepped down as India’s Test captain last week. Terming Kohli his “superhero”, Siraj said that the 33-year-old will always be his captain. (More Cricket News) 

“To my superhero, I cannot be thankful enough for the support and the encouragement that I got from you. You have always been my great brother. Thank you for trusting me and believing in me for all these years. For seeing the great at my worst. You will be always be my captain King Kohli @virat.kohli,” said Siraj.

Kohli quit Test captaincy as the most successful Indian skipper in the format. He led the side in 68 Tests, winning 40 of them with a win percentage of 58.82. His decision came after India lost the recently-concluded Test series 1-2 to South Africa.

Earlier, Kohli’s teammates Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Mayank Agawal and others had also acknowledged Kohli’s contribution.

Kohli and Siraj share a good bond as the pacer debuted for Team India under Kohli’s leadership in 2017 and the skipper duly trusted his man in the coming time. He was also Kohli's go-to man while playing for Royals Chellngers Bangalore in Indian Premier League. 

The contribution of Kohli was also instrumental when Indian players, including Mohammed Siraj, were racially abused by the Australian crowd at the Sydney Cricket Ground during the third Test of the 2020-21 series between the sides.

Siraj was allegedly called ‘brown dog’ by a section of crowd at the SCG and Kohli, who wasn’t even a part of the series after leaving midway for the birth of his child, was quick to point out the incident, demanding serious action.

“Abuse is absolutely unacceptable. Having gone through many incidents of really pathetic things said on the boundary Iines, this is the absolute peak of rowdy behaviour. It's sad to see this happen on the field," Virat Kohli had tweeted.

"The incident needs to be looked at with absolute urgency and seriousness and strict action against the offenders should set things straight for once.”
