India women's cricket team lost seven wickets for 31 runs to lose the gold medal match of the Commonwealth Games 2022 against Australia by nine runs in Birmingham on Sunday. Chasing Australia's 161/8, India were in control with Jemimah Rodrigues and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur in a 90+ stand for the third wicket. Then they collapsed. Even then, needing 11 in the final over, India lost two wickets off successful deliveries to hand Australia the inaugural title. They were already the ODI and T20I world champions.
