Spain and Germany played out a 1-1 thrilling draw, which has still kept the Germans alive in the World Cup. Costa Rica’s win over Japan has blown the race wide open as all four teams are in contention to qualify. Spain had to win the game to ensure their qualification to the next round and they started the game in dangerous fashion too as Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres came close to scoring in the first half. Antonio Rudiger scored a 40th minute header which was eventually ruled out for offside after VAR intervention. Luis Enrique brought on Alvaro Morata in the second half and the substitute didn’t take long to have an impact on the game as he scored in the 62nd minute to give La Roja the deserved lead. Alba played a low cross to Morata who finished it first time to score. Germany, in search of an equalizer, pushed forward and finally their efforts were rewarded in the 83rd minute when substitute Niclas Fulkrug scored from inside the box to help Germany level the game.
