Austrian Grand Prix 2022: Max Verstappen Beats Ferraris To Pole - F1 Qualifying, Practice In Pics

Defending champion Formula One champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull took pole position ahead of the Saturday Sprint in a dramatic qualifying Friday. Following the second stoppage of Q3, Verstappen produced his flying lap at Red Bull Ring to beat Ferrari's Charles Leclerc by just 0.029s. Lecrec's team-mate Carlos Sainz was third. Both Mercedes drivers, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell crashed. Verstappen's team-mate Sergio Perez will start on 4th on the Sprint grid. Verstappen leads the Drivers' Championship by 34 points from Perez, with Leclerc third, a further nine points behind.
