In Praise Of Indigo

For showing the worst flyers ever where to get off. Literally.

Airline companies are often slammed for using unfair pricing practices and forming fare cartels to try and fill as many seats as possible on their aircraft. Well, here’s one that did the opposite. Ahead of a flight from Hyderabad to Raipur, India’s biggest airline summarily offloaded as many as 70 passengers for “unruly behaviour”. The passengers were all part of a wedding party and they allegedly created panic by refusing to heed safety instructions. It takes plenty of courage for a domestic airline to order 70 passengers to get off a flight knowing there would be counter-allegations from the passengers which could impact the corporate image. Indians are generally the worst flyers; they are the first to jump up and grab their overhead luggage, well before the aircraft comes to a stop. During the journey itself they are known to be rude and overbearing with the airline staff. It’s time someone showed them where to get off, literally, and Indigo deserves a pat on the, well...tail.
