Typhoon Jebi Hits Japan

A powerful typhoon blew through western Japan, causing heavy rain to flood the region's main offshore international airport and high winds to blow a tanker into a connecting bridge, disrupting land and air travel.

A damaged 2,591-ton tanker is towed by a tugboat from a bridge connecting Kansai International Airport in Osaka, western Japan a day after it slammed into the side of the bridge by a powerful typhoon. About 3,000 passengers stranded by Typhoon Jebi overnight at the offshore Japanese airport begun returning by boat and by bus over the partially damaged bridge to the mainland.
