In Pics: Saving Animals From Assam Floods

The floods in Assam have displaced many animals at the Kaziranga National Park. Rescuers and wildlife officials have been working to rescue these animals.

A sub- adult tigress, that took shelter at a house hold near Deopani area attached to Kaziranga National Park was rescued by the joint team of CWRC & Kaziranga NP. The tigress was released in the wilderness of Kaziranga after necessary observation period is over.

The joint team of CWRC- WTI-IFAW and Kaziranga National Park of Assam Forest Department rescued a few days old orphan male rhino calf from Teteliguri area of Kaziranga Forest Range of the national park The calf is under observation at CWRC.

The rescued newborn male rhino calf under foster mother care at Centre for Wildilfe Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC). The calf was found by the patrolling forest staff near Teteliguri forest camp under Kaziranga forest range of the park on 2nd August morning. A joint team of CWRC- WTI-IFAW and Kaziranga National Park of Assam Forest Department rescued the alone animal form the flood receded muddy grassland of the park as there was no sign of the mother around. For further treatment and care, the calf was brought to CWRC and now under 24 hours observation.
