Saving on Gas Money
For those who were waiting to see if petroleum minister Veerappa Moily was going take the metro again to work last Wednesday, Id-ul-Zuha came as a dampener. The minister chose not to come to work. This means one will have to wait another week to see if Moily stays true to his promise of using public transport every Wednesday. Not just him but also other employees at the ministry. While most low-level functionaries have always used public transport, it’s the senior bureaucrats who are scuppered, say sources. Long adjusted to the comfort of their official car’s rear seat, they have taken it a bit hard. Still, some have taken it sportingly, even taking the exercise-friendly route, bicycling to work. The million dollar question now is: will the minister and his babus forget their promise a fortnight from its much-publicised debut?
