The case received a fresh twist after jailed Indrani Mukherjee turned approver in the INX Media case and gave testimony against Chidambaram, which largely forms the basis of the CBI case against the former finance minister.
The firm once promoted by Peter and Indrani Mukerjea, both in jail for murdering the latter's daughter Sheena Bora, had allegedly made payments to a firm linked to the former finance minister's son Karti Chidambaram, the CBI has said in the FIR.
Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram was arrested by the CBI from his Jor Bagh residence in Delhi.
The court has issued production warrant for Indrani Mukerjea, who is jailed in another case in Mumbai.
A few months ago she was admitted to the state-run hospital following a chest pain. Prior to that, she was hospitalised for the alleged drug overdose
"Had I taken two more pegs (of the drink allegedly offered by his mother) that day, I won't have been alive today," he said.
Justice A K Pathak, who had earlier granted the interim protection till today, extended the relief to Chidambaram by one more month.
Indrani is currently serving jail term in Byculla women's jail in connection with the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora.
