With November round the corner, European cities and towns are gearing up to hold their Christmas markets. Much like India’s Diwali markets, Christmas markets are a popular event in European countries, often turning into huge tourist attractions.

Decorated with illuminated displays, they not only have booths selling Christmas-related products, from food to trinkets to décor, they also offer a range of entertainment options.

However, the markets have been asked to implement adequate pandemic containment regulations, which visitors will have to follow. According to Visit Berlin website, markets have been urged to implement appropriate hygiene concepts, such as distance rules, compulsory wearing of masks, safe routing, time slot tickets and limited visitor numbers. However, it is up to the markets if they want to implement the 3G (allow people with negative test report to enter) or the 2G rule (wherein visitors will have to present either proof of vaccination or recovery).
