Afghanistan’s Bamiyan Valley is famous for the two giant Buddha statues carved out of sandstone. The tallest Buddhas in the world, they were lost forever after the Taliban destroyed them.
One of them made a reappearance to mark the two-decade anniversary of the annihilation in an event called “A Night with Buddha” in the form of a 3D projection. It was a poignant event, people looked on as the projection glowed in the alcove where it used to stand.
