SpiceJet has become the second airline to announce night flights from Srinagar beginning March 28.

In an announcement on March 13, an airline official said that a Srinagar-Kolkata flight is scheduled from Srinagar at 7:40 pm, beginning from March 28.

Last month, GoAir had started bookings for a Srinagar-Delhi evening flight.

According to a report in Greater Kashmir, a SpiceJet spokesperson said: “This flight is scheduled and available for booking. This is final from SpiceJet’s end. However, timings are subject to government approvals.”

The report quotes the Director AAI, Srinagar, Santosh Dhoke, as saying that the aerodrome was ready to handle night flights. And that an announcement for the night flight operations at the Srinagar Airport was likely to be made in the “summer schedule” to be released by the aviation regulator – Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)— during the next ten days.
